A warehouse used for storing petrol has burned down in Gaafu Dhaalu Dhevvadhoo.
Dhevvadhoo Council spokesperson told Sun Online that the fire broke out at around 2:00 a.m.
He cited the owner of the warehouse and said that the building contained eight barrels of petrol and 2.5 barrels of Castrol oil, and speculated that arson might have been the cause since there was no electricity connected to the building.
The fire was extinguished at around 3:45 a.m., and caused damage worth MVR 54,000.
