Maldives Customs Service has decided to establish an office in Haa Alifu Uligamu, to provide services to yachts passing through the island.
Senior Superintendent of Maldives Customs Ahmed Niyaz told Sun Online that there is high yacht traffic in the region and currently, goods and vessels clearance is conducted under poor conditions from a small office in the island.
He said that staff will move to the new building, which will be include the facilities necessary to provide quality services, early next year.
Ministry of Finance has invited bids for the project to establish the new Customs Office in Uligamu. The bid opening ceremony has been scheduled for 14 July 2015.
