Tsunami Monument area cleared for bridge project

The handcarts set up by vendors have been removed from the Tsunami Monument area, for the Malé-Hulhulé Bridge Project.

Handcarts have been removed from the southern end of Dharubaaruge up to the Tsunami Monument.

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu said that the move is temporary, and the area needed to be cleared to make space for the project.

The vendors have been given new spots along Boduthakurufaanu Magu, Dr Muizzu said.

Earlier, Housing Ministry announced its decision to relocate the Tsunami Monument for the bridge project, because the Malé-end of the bridge will be at the monument area.
