Fans being installed on MTCC ferries

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) have started installing fans on their ferries travelling between Malé and Hulhumalé.

The ferries now do not have fans installed. People travelling between the two cities have been complaining about the heat on the journey.

CEO of MTCC, Ibrahim Abdul-Razzaq Haleem told Sun Media today that while they have begun installing fans on their Hulhumalé ferries in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, one ferry has already been completed and begun it’s travels. CEO Haleem said that five ferries would be fully equipped with fans before the first week of Ramadan ends.

“To improve the service provided to our customers, we are doing this for Ramadan. A solution would be found to the heat.” Haleem said.

While each ferry would have 12 fans installed, CEO Haleem says that the fans would be bigger that average fans. He said that they plan to install fans on their new ferries and the company intends to install fans on their ferries to other destinations as well.

While the MTCC is installing fans on their ferries, the company has decided to launch double decked ferries to travel between Malé and Hulhumalé. And the company hopes to shorten the journey to 15 minutes.
