Man falls into sea and dies in M. Mulaku

A man has been found dead in the sea in M. Mulaku.

Mulaku Council President Mohamed Ibrahim said today that the man was found at around 11:30 and has been identified as Abdullah Hassan, 47, of Fehige, Mulaku.

The Councilor said that Abdullah Hassan was working with another man on taking water barrels onboard a boat this morning. He sent the other man home when the task was complete, and was found dead in the sea soon afterwards. He noted that Abdullah Hassan suffers from a mental illness.

“They were filling barrels with water and taking them onboard the boat. He told the other man to go home when it was done. Go take a shower, he said, and left. After that he was found in the sea near the jetty, dead,” Councilor said.

Council President Mohamed Ibrahim said that it is likely that he died and fell into the sea. He was dead when he was pulled out, and his funeral arrangements are currently underway.

A 15-year-old drowned in Fuvahmulah last Friday, and a 74-year-old was found dead in the sea in Hulhumeedhoo, Addu city, last Saturday.
