High Court has supported the Criminal Court’s life sentence passed on Mariyam Nazaaha for the murder of her ex-husband.

High Court has supported the Criminal Court’s life sentence passed on Mariyam Nazaaha for the murder of her ex-husband.

Nazaaha’s ex-husband, Hassan Shaahid died from wounds from a knife attack to his back from Nazaaha on 22 June 2010 around 3 p.m.

The verdict from the from the High Court today said that Nazaaha did not deny that Shaahid died from the knife that was stabbed into his back.

And it is clear that after stabbing Shaahid, it was Nazaaha that called the Police and told the Police where the knife was by Nazaaha’s words.

At the court, Nazaaha said that the incident took place in a state of enduring abuse as an act of self-defense.

But the verdict says that evidence shows that no acts of abuse took place that day at the scene and that Shaahid didn’t even have the time to inflict an abuse.

Nazaaha was sentenced to life in prison because one of Shaahid’s nearest relatives didn’t want a death for a death.

The verdict also said that the sentence of life in prison can be lightened under the laws of Maldives and if she completes those conditions, the sentence can be lightened.
