The construction of a temporary mosque has begun for the holy month of Ramadan.
The temporary mosque is being built on the empty land near Rehendhi School. The construction of the mosque began last Thursday.
Managing Director of HDC, Mohamed Simon told Sun Media today that the mosque being built in Neighborhood 2 is to cater more people and the construction is a combined effort of HDC and the Islamic Ministry.
“ Looking at about 1000 people in Neighborhood 2 and the people living on the beachfront on the area, space issue has arisen at the mosque before as well, so to resolve that, we are building that place.” Simon said.
The mosque being built in Neighborhood 2 has the space for 800 people. The mosque being built with pipes is to have a short perimeter wall and have mats placed. HDC says that the mosque would have a toilet and water would be installed for ablution.
HDC has said that there are about 35,000 people living in Hulhumale’ which is more than twice the size of Male’ City.
