Cases against 14 people has been sent to PG for prosecution

Police have sent the case of 14 people to Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office for prosecution regarding the assault on an officer at the opposition protest on 1 May.

The 14 people the Police are pressing charges are:

2. S. Hulhudhoo, Gulhazaaruge, Usman Hassan

3. Moosa Sharumeel (35)

4. G. Keema, Abdulla Rasheed Mohamed (49)

5. L. Gan, Eggamuge, Naasira Ali (30)

6. G.Dh. Gaddhoo, Lotus, Laushan Ahmed Zahir (19)

7. Th. Guraidhoo, Rosevilla, Ahmed Ibrahim (48)

8. S. Hulhudhoo, Australia, Ibrahim Ibaad (28)

9. M. Baansry, Ibrahim Labaan Shareef (19)

10. G.Dh. Gaddhoo, Nilofarumaage, Umar Qahir

11. N. Milandhoo, Nooraaneegem Mohamed Iqbal (50)

12. S. Hulhudhoo, Iruvai, Ahmed Unais (32)

13. G. Lanka, Abdulla Mufeed (36)

14. Sh. Goedhoo, Malaaz, Mohamed Sinaan (31)

The suspects involved in the attack were found after Police released photos and a video of the attack. Police also thanked the public for their support in finding the suspects.

The video released by the Police shows an officer being tackled while he was running and protestors surround him and start attacking the officer.

President of Adhaalath Party, Sheikh Imran Abdulla, MDP Chairperson, Ali Waheed, Deputy Leader of JP, Ameen Ibrahim and the Foreign and Public Relations of JP, Sobah Rasheed was for supporting conflict and confrontation in their speeches at the rally.
