As a solution to the traffic problems in Male’ City during the month of Ramadan, cargo and heavy load vehicles has been banned from the market area at specific times.
Speaking at the press conference at Iskandharu Koshi to share Police efforts on traffic oversight in Ramadan, the Head of the Police Traffic Department, Sub Inspector Mohamed Daaud said that heavy load vehicles and cargo vehicles would be banned from the local market area from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
“…And so we ask to load and unload the goods to the shops in the area during the hours of morning and night and to support us in this effort.” Sub Inspector Daaud said.
He said that if the traffic jam persists, other four wheeled vehicles would also be banned from the area.
The special attention area from the traffic police would be given to the area starting from MMA to “Meerubahuru” Port. And the Kandi Dhonmanik Goalhi on the south side of the fish market and Haveeree hingun starting from Huseynee Goalhi to Faarukendi Hingun would be patrolled as such.
