Imran released, with travel ban

Criminal Court has ruled to release President of Adhaalath Party (AP) Sheikh Imran Abdulla from police custody, with a travel ban preventing him from traveling abroad.

The ruling was issued when Imran was taken to the court for a remand period hearing moments ago.

Earlier today, High Court ruled to transfer Imran to house arrest at the hearing of the appeal case on the extension of his remand period by ten days by Criminal Court on 17 May.

The initial 15 days of remand granted by Criminal Court following Imran’s arrest, was upheld by High Court on 14 May.
