Man gets one year in prison for theft

A man has been sentenced to one year in prison for stealing from a house in Malé.

Criminal Court found Mohamed Ahmed guilty of stealing from two rooms in H. Netherland at around 8:00 p.m. on 31 May 2014.

The stolen items include a Nokia phone and headset, an Airtel decoder, and MVR 5,695 cash.

The court said that despite the defendant’s denial of the charge, evidence produced in court by the State was sufficient to prove that he committed the crime.
