A group from Thinadhoo has found what is believed to be a 12 kgs ambergris

A group of people from G.DH. Thinadhoo has collected what is believed to be white ambergris weighing 12 kg. The “ambergris” was found by a group of young people about 300 ft. from the island who was out fishing on a dinghy.

Talking to Sun Media tonight, the Vice President of Thinadhoo Council, Ibrahim Assad said that the item collected by the group has many qualities of ambergris. He said that they are trying to send sample to Male’ to confirm.

“When you touch it for a while, the hand has a good scent.” Assad said. Sources say that that dinghy which found it has three youth ranging the ages from 17 – 25.

Thinadhoo Council said that the people who found it sells small fishes to Male’ City.
