Noonu Velidhoo Magistrate Court has sentenced a man to three years and eight months in prison for stealing from Velidhoo Police Station.
The convict is Jihad Mohamed, 30.
Police said in a statement issued today that Jihad stole from Velidhoo Police Station while it was closed, after police were forced to leave the island on 8 February 2012.
The court said in the verdict that Jihad was found guilty of stealing electronics, a charge to which he confessed in court on 13 May 2015.
This is the first conviction for Jihad.
