Twelfth suspect arrested for attack on police officer

Police have arrested a twelfth person on suspicion of attacking a police officer during the protest on 1 May.

Police said that a 23-year-old Maldivian man was arrested under an arrest warrant at 9:15 a.m.

The eleven others arrested in relation to this case are Farhath Ali, Usman Hassan, Moosa Sharmeel, Abdulla Rasheed Mohamed, Nasira Ali, Laushan Ahmed Zahir, Ahmed Ibrahim, Ibrahim Ibad, Ibrahim Laban Rasheed, Umar Gahir, and Mohamed Igbal.

Police have released photos of four additional suspects, and appealed for assistance in identifying them.

Police thanked the public for their assistance in identifying and locating suspects in similar cases in the past.
