Deputy Leader of Jumhooree Party (JP) Ameen Ibrahim has exercised his right to remain silent during the inquiry by the police in Dhoonidhoo yesterday evening.
Ameen was questioned by an investigation team of the Serious and Organised Crime Department of the Maldives Police Service, in the presence of his lawyer.
The questions were focused on Ameen’s speech during the protest on Friday, 1 May.
In addition to Ameen, Chairperson of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Ali Waheed and JP Member Sobah Rasheed also chose to exercise their right to remain silent when questioned by the police yesterday.
The only arrestee related to this case who cooperated with the police and answered their questions was President of Adhaalath Party (AP) Imran Abdulla.
The four individuals were arrested for encouraging violence during the protest.
