Police advised vigilance on thefts from the under-seat storage on motorcycles

Police have advised vigilance on the recent rise of thefts from the under-seat storage compartments of motorcycles.

Police said that the theft are high in the sporting areas in Male’ City. And the thieves are targeting the people who are taking part in sporting arenas.

In the past week alone, seven such cases have been reported to the Police and as of late, two to three such cases are being reported to the Police.

Police noted the theft of large amounts of money, mobile phones and other valuable items from the under-seat storage of motorcycles.

Maldives Police Service advised the public to only take essential items when going to sporting arenas and swimming areas.

Police said that there has been reports of stolen credit cards along with the pin number from the wallets although such cases are rare.
