Parliament sitting under way amid protests

The parliament sitting scheduled for this morning is under way amid protests by opposition MPs.

Megaphones and horns are being used to make noise in the parliament chamber to obstruct the meeting.

Items on today’s agenda include the presentation of the General Committee’s report regarding an amendment to Article 51 of the Parliament Standing Orders, and voting on pending issues.

If the amendment is passed, it will come into effect tomorrow and the use of devices such as megaphones and horns will not be allowed in the parliament chamber.

Such devices will be seized, and action will be taken against any MP who attempts to enter the chamber with them.
