Moosa expresses concern over MDP

Former Chairperson of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Reeko Moosa Manik has expressed concern over MDP’s decision not to hold a primary for the Dhiggaru by-election.

Moosa talked to Sun Online today, and condemned reports that MDP’s plan was to appoint a candidate from its coalition with Adhaalath Party (AP) and Jumhooree Party (JP).

He said that this was proof that the whole situation was being controlled by AP and JP, and urged MDP to hold a primary.

Moosa also said that despite the party leadership’s decision to remove him as a member, in his heart, he was still a member of MDP.

MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed has said that opposition parties will cooperate, and efforts were ongoing to appoint one opposition candidate for the Dhiggaru by-election.

Also, former Vice President of Local Government Authority (LGA) Sujau Hussain has requested MDP to investigate the decision not to hold a primary.

MDP has not officially commented on the matter.
