Colonel Nazim

The former Defence Minister, Colonel-retired Mohamed Nazim who has been sentenced to 11 years in prison by the Criminal Court has sent the case to the High Court for the appeal.

The Media Official of the Criminal Court, Ahmed Mohamed Manik said that the appeal of Nazim’s case was sent to the High Court on Thursday.

Nazim’s lawyer, Maumoon Hameed said that the case was appealed based on the summary report of the trial from the court.

He said that the case for appeal has not been prepared well enough based on the summary report and they need the full report to construct the case for an appeal.

The appeal was presented to the Criminal Court on 12 April.

Colonel-retired Mohamed Nazim was sentence to 11 years in prison after he was found guilty of import and possession of a firearm.
