The harbor project has officially begun in the only island without a harbor in Faafu atoll, Magoodhoo.
The project was inaugurated by the leader of MDA and the MP for the Meedhoo constituents, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed and the Housing Minister, Dr. Mohamed Muiz.
Speaking at the ceremony today, the CEO of MTCC, who took the project, Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem said that the project was given to MTCC in the month of February of last year and the construction of the project began in December. But the project was delayed since the project was completely changed and officially restarts today.
Haleem said that the harbor is 250 feet wide and they are spending MVR 40.1 million for the project.
Speaking at the ceremony, the MP for the Bilehdhoo constituents, Abdulla Mubeen said that the people of Magoodhoo are united when it comes to the development of the island even though there is political diversity.
And the people of Magoodhoo have been dreaming about the harbor project in the island and today, it is starting to become true.
While the project has been officially started today, MTCC said that the harbor project would be completed in 351 days.
