16-year-old boy dies in accident

A 16-year-old boy who sustained serious injuries in an accident in Hithadhoo, Addu City, has passed away while receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Hithadhoo Regional Hospital.

The deceased, who suffered serious injuries to the head, has been named as Mohamed Ayad, 16, Seyva, Hithadhoo.

Public Relations Officer of Hithadhoo Regional Hospital Ali Moosa told Sun Online that Ayad died at around 1:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Efforts were ongoing to take him to Malé when he died, Ali Moosa said, but the second victim, Saifulla Ali, 18, has been taken to Malé for treatment.

The accident took place when two motorcycles collided on Link Road, Hithadhoo, Addu City.

Both motorcycles were totalled in the accident.

A third victim, a 16-year-old girl, is receiving treatment at Hithadhoo Regional Hospital for minor injuries.
