MNU signs agreement with Sri Lanka

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Maldives National University (MNU) and Sri Lanka’s Peradeniya University, to work together to improve services.

The agreement was signed by Vice Chancellor of MNU Hassan Hameed and Vice Chancellor of Peradeniya University Professor A. Senaratne, at a ceremony at MNU today.

The five-year agreement contains ten main clauses, and will facilitate sharing of experiences in terms of education and culture, exchange programs for teachers and students, and joint efforts to develop curricula.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hameed said that the two universities have cooperated in many projects in the past, and highlighted that the study related to the establishment of a Medical School in the Maldives was conducted by two professors of Peradeniya University.

The agreement signed today will see the development of an MBBS program, according to the standards set by Maldives Medical Council and other relevant authorities, said Hameed.
