Mahloof, Raajje TV journalists remanded in custody for five days

Criminal Court has approved remand periods of five days for Galolhu-South MP Ahmed Mahloof and two Raajje TV journalists, arrested during the protest in Malé on Wednesday night (last night).

Including Mahloof and the two journalists, the court approved remand periods for nine protesters today, arrested at last night’s demonstration on suspicion of disobeying orders and obstructing police.

The nine suspects were remanded in custody for five days, nine days, or fifteen days.

Police said that Raajje TV Reporter Mohamed Visam and Cameraman Adam Zareer were arrested for breaking through the barricades and obstructing police duties, as the protesters started moving towards Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) area during the protest last night.
