Minister: It is very important to maintain relations with other countries

Minister for the President’s Office, Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) says that in a globalized world, it is very important to maintain relations with other countries.

Speaking at tonight’s ceremony celebrating “Huravee Day” Mundhu said that some people think it’s a bad thing to maintain relations with other countries. But the truth is, he said, that “Dhonbandaarain” maintained foreign relations as well.

Mundhu said that the relations Maldives keep with other nations are important to our independence and our nationalism. But the important thing is not to go under their slavery. He said that while we are keeping relations with other nations, it should be so that it does not affect our nationalism.

While Mundhu said so, the Home Minister Umar Naseer spoke in tonight’s ceremony saying that no matter how economically dark the world has become, politically, every country is maintaining their nationality and there are doors, politically, that even allies cannot pass through.

The Home Minister said that there are citizens in the country that are worried that we don’t open all the doors to the international community. He said that people at that state are saying that a trial cannot be held for someone who commits a crime openly.
