Police: Plans are being made to set fires in Male

Police has said today that they have information that plans are being made to set fire in different parts of Male’.

Speaking at a news conference at Iskandharu Koshi today, the Head of the Central Operations Department, Chief Inspector of Police, Ismail Naveen said that Police Intelligence have received information about plans to set fire in parts of Male’ and that police are investigating the case.

“We have started an investigation since we received information about plans to set fires in empty buildings and abandoned buildings in Male’.” Naveen said.

Answering to a question from Sun Media about police preparation to these plans, Chief Inspector Naveen said that the police are looking after possible targets in coordination with MNDF.

He also said that the police are looking for the assailants involved in the attacks against foreigners although no arrests have been made in regard to those cases.

While two locations were set on fire in the past week and two attacks on foreigners have taken place last night in two different locations, a Bangladeshi citizen was attacked and killed last Sunday. And a body of a foreigner was found with attack wounds on Monday.
