Criminal Court says that they are not trying to keep anyone out of the court.
In an interview with the Registrar of the Criminal Court Ali Adam today, he said that if the rules and regulations of the court are ignored, there are things noted in the law of courts to protect the dignity of the court. And if anything like that is done, it is disrespect to the court, he said.
“Even on that day, (the day the former president got sentenced,) some journalists said that they want to leave the courtroom. We don’t object to anyone leaving the courtroom. If they want, they can leave. But we (at the court) have rules. We have laws to follow even if there isn’t a specific law made for a particular matter. We are following those rules. Then when we told them (the journalists) that they can’t come back in, it got a bit loud in the courtroom.” Ali Adam said.
Ali Adam said that even the Islamic Shariah says that the courtroom is a place to be respected. He also said that the court officer would tell the rules when people are coming into the courtroom.
The Registrar of the court said that the Criminal Court is investigating the events that took place in the courthouse on the night of the former president’s sentencing.
“We haven’t decided to keep any media or journalist from entering the courtroom.” Ali Adam said. “We are not trying to keep anyone from entering the court.”
