Deputy Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Mohamed Adam has said that a budget of $10 million has been allocated for tourism promotion in 2016.
Mohamed Adam told Sun Online that the budget for tourism promotion in 2015 was $4.5 million.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Managing Director of MMPRC Abdulla Ziyath said that promotional activities will be stepped up next year, since Maldives has become an ITB Berlin partner, and because 2016 will be marked as Visit Maldives year.
Special promotional activities will begin already in June 2015, he said.
Ziyath also said that the Maldives stand at the ITB Berlin received positive response from the industry.
The stand won third place in the Asia/Australia/Oceania category.
A total of 194 representatives from 75 Maldivian companies participated in the event.
