Former president has presented his testimony on the case he submitted to the Police Integrity Commission claiming the assaulted him in the conflict that occurred when the former president stopped to talk to the press while he was being brought to court in police custody.
A member of the former president’s team of lawyers, Hassan Latheef spoke on Raaje TV last night said that President Nasheed has presented his testimony to the Police Integrity Commission on the assault against him while bringing him to court.
He said the relevant video and photo evidence has been submitted as well.
Police medial officials say that doctor’s reports have confirmed that no injuries were sustained to the former president in that conflict.
“The doctors who attended to Nasheed said there were no injuries.” The official said.
The former president attempted to talk to the press while he was being brought to court in police custody for the case against him for the arrest of the chief judge of the criminal court Abdulla Mohamed. But the police did not allow it and Nasheed resisted when the police urged him inside and dropped to the floor.
Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) released a press issue condemning the police actions on the day and accused the police for “abuse of power” and are being investigated calling the police actions “cruel”.
