The Parliamentary Committee on Ethics, tasked with investigating the disorder in parliament on Monday where MPs obstructed President Abdulla Yameen’s presentation of the annual Presidential Address, has cancelled its meeting.
The meeting was scheduled for 11:15 a.m. No reason has been given for the cancellation.
MPs of MDP and Jumhooree Party (JP) protested and called for the release of former President Mohamed Nasheed and former Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim, while President Abdulla Yameen presented his speech at the inaugural sitting of the parliament. The President however completed his speech amid the noise and chaos, without any disruption.
