The live broadcast of today’s sitting of the parliament has been suspended following protest by MPs of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
As soon as Speaker of Parliament Abdulla Maseeh opened the meeting at 9:00 a.m., it was obstructed by MPs who were shouting and blowing whistles.
The MPs called for the release of former President Mohamed Nasheed, and said that the parliament will not be allowed to proceed until he is released.
Only one issue had been put on the agenda for today’s meeting, regarding the Bill on Privileges to Former Presidents.
MPs of MDP also obstructed yesterday’s parliament sitting.
