MDP-JP: Umar agrees to meet regarding the demands, President doesn

MDP-JP has said that the Home Minister Umar Naseer has agreed to meet regarding the demands made by the opposition but the president has refused to do so.

After tonight’s meeting of the MDP-JP joint commission to lead the protests against the government, the Deputy leader of JP Amin Ibrahim said that the Home Minister has agreed to meet on Thursday.

“…So his appointment at 10 a.m. on Thursday morning is set for us. We, from both parties sincerely thank the Home Ministry for that. But regarding the letter, the President is saying that if it is good for the people, we can meet him on the spot.” Amin said.

Amin said he is sad that the president found the demands as good for the people. And both MDP and JP have discussed the work to be done regarding the demands.

Chairperson of MDP Ali Waheed said that his party cannot stand idly when the leader of MDP and former president Mohamd Nasheed’s trail is moving forward in a fast pace. And they have decided to put extra work to free the former president. But the MDP would move forward as their members will it. And it would not affect the relationship between MDP and JP.

Ali Waheed also said that a member of MDP would not hesitate to do anything in the defense of the former president Nasheed. And they have no other priority than to free President Nasheed.

“For us, truthfully, we have no other business. So even if they take him outside the law and fade him into the system, MDP won’t move forward without President Nasheed. So they are taking us to a wrong path actually. So we won’t come in between the spirited love for our president Nasheed and the members of our party.” Waheed said.
