Imran: With the growing fear, it

President of Adhaalath Party Sheikh Imran Abdulla said the country is not going in the right direction and with the growing fear and chaos; it’s time every citizen stood up for peace.

Speaking on VTV’s “Fasmanzaru” program, Imran said that the actions of the government as of late are making the people uneasy. He said the government has narrowed the constitutional rights of the people and acts of corruption are taking place openly within the government.

“The government has started violating individual rights. We’re starting to see acts of corruption are committed openly in the government. Today, this is a major concern of the people.” Imran said.

The leader of Adhaalth party, who worked to elect the current president Yameen in the 2013 election, said that they were allied with the government before for justice and the rights of the people. Today, Imran says, the government has “cast aside” these things and their “direction” has changed.

“Today, we believe anyone who loves peace and harmony has to stand up for the country, for the citizens. Work towards it. The direction the country is headed today is definitely not a good one. There is fear among the people. Turmoil and uneasiness is there.” Imran said.

Imran said that while some are saying that the Maldives is developing but it’s not true. And the country is facing extreme financial hardship. And the evidence of economic downfall is visible.

“With the turmoil and uneasiness among us, further economic hardship in the near future is possible. We have to work for better alternatives in this.” Imran said.

Imran has met with President Yameen today and shared Adhaalath Party’s concerns with the current political situation. But he revealed no information about the meeting.
