The MDP-JP joint commission has decided to meet President Abdulla Yameen with the demands made in the protest rally last Friday.
Speaking at the press conference at the JP campaign hall at M. Kunooz, the MDP chair person Ali Waheed said that they have decided to submit the demands made on Friday to the government in writing. And the joint commission intends to meet the relevant institutes demanding the freedom of the MP for mid-Henveiru constituents Ali Azim and drop the charges against the former Defense Minister Nazim and the former president.
Ali Waheed said that they intend to meet the Home Minister Umar Naseer. And they would request the meetings when the working hours start tomorrow.
“We ask the relevant institutes to drop all the politically motivated charges and our commission have decided to meet all the institutes to relevant to our 13 demands.” Waheed said.
MDP chairperson said they have decided to allow more MPs and members from other parties into the MDP-JP rallies. And among other decisions made, is to stand up against abolishing the opposition by the government.
“As you know we strongly condemn the government work to abolish anyone who says anything “from the system” we discussed with everyone to stand up against it.” Ali Waheed said.
Speaking at the conference, the deputy leader of JP Ameen Ibrahim said that an effort is being made at a diplomatic level with foreign governments to take another step forward. And that the rallies will continue on the streets.
