Dhiraagu has commenced repairing its damaged submarine cable today.
Dhiraagu Marketing and PR Executive Ibrahim Imjad Jaleel said that work commenced at around 14:00 by Dhiraagu and Sri Lankan engineers.
“The work is ongoing. We hope to complete the repair work by the end of the month,” Imjad said. He did not give any details of the damage caused to the cable.
Dhiraagu earlier mentioned that the cause of damage may have been a ship’s anchor.
The submarine cable is located about 26km off Sri Lanka at a depth of 40m.
