Nazim charged with possession of firearms

Former Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim has been charged with possession of firearms.

Sun Online has learned from credible sources that the case has been filed to Criminal Court, but neither the Prosecutor General’s Office nor the court has commented on the issue.

The charges against Nazim come under Article 13 (b) of the Import Prohibition Act, which states that the penalty for the illegal possession, use, provision, or sale of the items mentioned in Article 2 (a) (1), (2), and (3) of the same Act, is imprisonment, banishment, or house arrest for a period of five to ten years.

Police claim to have found a pistol following a raid of Nazim’s apartment at around 3:30 a.m. on 18 January 2015.

Nazim has denied all charges.
