Gayoom visits Down Syndrome Association

Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has visited Beautiful Eyes Down Syndrome Association, a support group working to raise awareness on Down syndrome in the Maldives.

During the visit, which followed an invitation from the association, Gayoom was briefed by co-founders Ahmed Ansam and Aishath Naura, and chairperson Aishath Shifa.

He also spent time with the children, and inquired about the challenges facing the management.

Gayoom described the association’s work as an invaluable national service, and commended and thanked the team for their efforts despite the lack of proper facilities in the country to attend to the needs of people with Down syndrome.
