World Bank has conducted a workshop for different sectors of the government and NGOs about empowering youth and striving for a better future for them.
“Youth in Maldives”, a report by World Bank in collaboration with Ministry of Youth and Sports, was shared with the participants and discussions were held at today’s event at Hotel Jen. The Report highlights four main points to aim for the future.
The World Bank report urges to run an awareness campaign for the youth, to recognize and resolve the issues facing the youth today.
In addition, rebranding the youth centers and changing the image on a regular basis is encouraged in the report to keep the youth out of the streets and to keep them engaged in a productive manner where their talents and skills can excel.
It also emphasizes the importance of employing the youth and making them a valuable contribution to national development. The World Bank also advises schools to prepare their students for the competitive job market.
The importance of health awareness programs in the country, mainly in the atolls, was also discussed in the workshop.
While the World Bank is conducting awareness campaigns with the government and NGOs, the government itself is conducting programs to create employment opportunities and empower the youth.
