JSC passes to appoint a judge to Criminal Court, four judges to Civil Court

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has passed to appoint a judge to Criminal Court and four judges to Civil Court.

In a meeting held by JSC on Monday evening, former member of JSC Ahmed Rasheed has been passed to be appointed as the judge for Criminal Court.

JSC lawyer Hassan Faheem Ibrahim of Haa Dhaalu Makunudhoo Pikedly, former legal officer of Jumhooree Party Mohamed Haleem, Ali Abdulla of G.Faridhoo and Abdul Nasir Shafeeg of Lhaviyani Kurendhoo Reehussabaa have been passed to be appointed as the judges for Civil Court.

Appointing a judge to Criminal Court has been passed following Muhthaz Muhsin (former judge of Criminal Court) having appointed to the post of Prosecutor General.

Appointing a judge to Civil Court has been passed following resignation of Judge Aisha Shujoon and because of the number of cases filed to that court.
