Volunteer Movement to hold March Against Abuse on Friday

The Volunteer Movement, an initiative by a group of young people working against abuse, has announced plans to hold a March Against Abuse in Malé on Friday.

A senior member of the team told Sun Online that members of the public - regardless of political affiliation or occupation - are urged to participate in the activity.

The Volunteer Movement also held a gathering in Malé yesterday evening. The activity was focused on the recent death of three-year-old Mohamed Ibthihaal due to suspected abuse, in the island of Rakeedhoo in Vaavu atoll.

Organisers have said that the aim of yesterday’s activity was to put pressure on the parliament committee to expedite its assessment of negligence by government authorities in Ibthihaal’s death.
