Former Commissioner of Police and Parliament Member of Kin’bidhoo constituency Abdulla Riyaz has requested for security of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
In a letter sent to Defense Minister Major General Retired Mossa Ali Jaleel, Riyaz on Sunday of this week said that a group of people were putting effort to raise criminal charges against him by keeping drugs “secretly” inside his office or inside the apartment he lives.
In the letter Riyaz added that he has noticed two people following him in a motorcycle everywhere he goes. He has also noted that his motorcycle was burnt and engine oil was thrown at him.
Riyaz in the letter has stated that he requests for safety from MNDF because he is afraid that a group of people might try to attack him with regard to the political issues in the country at the moment.
While Riyaz has sent a letter to Defense Minister Jaleel, he has sent a similar letter to Home Minister Umar Naseer as well.
Riyaz has attached photographs of the people who are following him with the letter.
Riyaz has also requested to provide any information if any person has been charged against burning his motorcycle and throwing engine oil at him.
