Kanduhulhudhoo Imam arrested again on suspicion of sexual abuse of stepdaughter

Imam of Gaafu Alifu Kanduhulhudhoo has been arrested for the second time on suspicion of sexual abuse of his 12 year old stepdaughter.

Police media official said on Wednesday to Sun Online that the 66 year old man has been arrested for the second time on suspicion of sexual abuse of a girl on Wednesday afternoon.

He had been arrested for the first time on suspicion of sexual abuse of that girl on 22 February 2014. Remand period of three days were given when he was taken to the island Magistrate Court then, but he was released by the court when he was taken to extend remand period for the second time.

However, when the state appealed the case, High Court issued 15 days of detention for him in March 2014, and the case is now in Kanduhulhudhoo Magistrate Court.
