Umar Naseer elected President of LGA

Home Minister Umar Naseer has been elected as the President of Local Government Authority (LGA) on Wednesday.

LGA said that Umar was elected with unanimous vote of seven members who were present to the meeting of the Local Government Board held on Wednesday.

Umar was the only member contested for the post of President of LGA board that consists of nine members.

President has appointed Umar to LGA board under Article 140 of the Constitution that states that an appointed minister by the president is accountable to the Parliament, on behalf of the Local Government Authority.

Umar has been appointed to LGA board on 21 January 2015.
