Police depart from Rakeedhoo with mother arrested over son

The police have left the island of Rakeedhoo in Vaavu atoll with Afiya Mohamed, arrested over the death of Ibthihaal Mohamed, her son, due to suspected abuse.

A senior official of Rakeedhoo Council told Sun Online that all the police officers who visited the island to investigate the case left with the suspect at 7:40 a.m. today.

He said that the police said that they were going to Malé, and that they would return to Rakeedhoo.

Police have not commented on the matter.

The court has given 15 days of detention for Afiya following Ibthihaal’s death.

Afiya has two children in addition to Ibthihaal, who is the eldest. Ibthihaal was found dead in his home with serious injuries on Wednesday.
