Boat goes missing with five men who went to catch lobsters

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has started searching for a boat of Raa Maakurathu named as “Azum” that went missing with five men who went to catch sea cucumbers and lobsters.

MNDF said that the case was reported by a family member of one of the crews in the boat at around 2:00 p.m. on Monday and search efforts are under way by Northern Area Coast Guard Squadron.

According to MNDF, “Azum” boat was last contacted on Friday when it was near a reef of Haa Dhaalu Makunudhoo.

It has also been informed that “Azum” boat is around 60 ft long and painted in blue and white color.
