Mohamed Nazim has been dismissed, and former Chief of Defence Force Moosa Ali Jaleel has been appointed as Minister of Defence.
This has been confirmed to Sun Online by Spokesperson for the President’s Office Ibrahim Muaz Ali, who also said that Jaleel has already taken his oath as Minister of Defence.
Until now, Jaleel held the post of Ambassador to Pakistan.
Sun Online has learned from credible sources that police seized a pistol from Nazim’s apartment following a raid late on Saturday night.
Police have not commented on the matter, and when contacted, Nazim said that information related to this issue would be provided by the police.
Jaleel has also joined ruling party Progressive Party of Maldives.
