Police seize pistol from Defence Minister

Sun Online has learned from a credible source that the item seized by police following their raid of the apartment of Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim, was a pistol.

The pistol remains in the possession of the police, who have not commented on the issue.

When contacted earlier, Nazim said that information related to this issue would be provided by the police.

Raid officers entered Nazim’s apartment at around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday. An eyewitness told Sun Online that police left the premises at around 6:00 a.m. with documents.

Police called a press conference on Sunday, where Superintendent of Police Ahmed Shifan said that the officers who raided Nazim’s apartment, G. Enif, were not informed at the time of the operation that it was the residence of the Defence Minister.

He said that Nazim was accorded due respect by the officers from the moment they learned that they were dealing with his residence.
