Raid officers not informed it was Defence Minister

Police have said that the officers who raided G. Enif last night were not informed at the time of the operation, that it was the residence of Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim.

Speaking at a press conference at Iskandar Koshi today, Spokesperson for the Commissioner of Police, Superintendent of Police Ahmed Shifan said that Nazim was accorded due respect by the officers from the moment they learned that they were dealing with his residence.

Shifan said that items were obtained in the raid to support an ongoing investigation. He did not provide any details.

He added that the operation was conducted with full respect for human rights, and “force was applied to the extent called for by the situation” to enter some apartments.

Sun Online has learned that police broke the door and entered Nazim’s apartment at around 3:15 a.m.

An eyewitness told Sun Online that police left the premises at around 6:00 a.m. with several documents.
