Deputy Principals to be allocated based on students

Ministry of Education has decided to allocate Deputy Principals to schools based on the students’ population.

In a circular regarding staff requirement sent to schools on 11 January 2015 by Education Ministry, it has been said that Deputy Principals should hold a minimum of Bachelor’s Degree certificate.

According to that circular, a Deputy Principal can be allocated for schools with number of students between 500 to 999 and two Deputy Principals are permitted for schools with more than 1,000 students.

The circular read that if a school is having more than the required number qualified Deputy Principals at present, cut down the number based on their merit, certificates and experience.

Speaking in program at Sun TV, a local TV channel, Deputy Minister of Ministry Education Azleen Ahmed said that it was an important decision for the system to allocate Deputy Principals to school based on number of students.
