Dhangethi people decide to handover powerhouse to STELCO

Alifu Dhaalu Dhangethi people have decided to handover their powerhouse to State Electric Company (STELCO).

Providing information to Sun Online, President of Dhangethi Council Abdul Hannan Mohamed said on Saturday that the decision was made after discussing the people and via a public vote.

Dhangethi powerhouse has been managed by the community at present. However, the public was experiencing difficulty over electricity being frequently cut off from the island, said Hannaan.

According to Hannan, the islanders have decided to handover the powerhouse to STELCO, hoping to resolve the issue and effort is being carried out to handover the powerhouse to STELCO.
