Man sentenced to six months in prison for motorcycle theft

Hassan Nazim, 40, M. Hikandhimaage, Male’, has been sentenced to six months in prison for stealing a motorcycle.

The Criminal Court said that Nazim was stopped and questioned by police at around 1:00 a.m. on 9 January 2013, following which the police found out that he was driving a stolen motorcycle.

The court said that witness statements showed that the motorcycle belonged to Moosa Ibrahim, Fine Shade, Alifu Alifu Himandhoo.

Nazim claimed in court that the motorcycle was given to him by someone named Hussain, but he was not able to prove this in court, said the Criminal Court.

The court also mentioned in the verdict that this was the first conviction for Nazim.
